JDS „Kashima“, first Japanese navy ship visiting Croatia !

This historical visit is a part of 5-months cruise around the globe, she arrived to Adriatic together with another training ship SHIRAYUKI and destroyer ISOYUKI (they visited Taranto on the same dates). 
Citizens of Split and their guests had opportunity to take tour around Kashima and to enjoy listening her band playing on city's main promenade Riva. 

Quick facts: Training ship – first of the class, operated by Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, built 1994 at Maizuru shipyard (Hitachi Zosen Corporation), powered by CODOG system (combined diesel or gas), 143 m LOA, speed 25 kn, displacement 4050 t, carrying 4 saluting cannons, can accomodate up to 370 crewmembers including officer cadets
